Armidale offers great family activities to involve the whole family. Our local parks have fantastic play equipment. One of the best would have to be the Bicentennial Arboretum. The park even has a push button operated waterfall!
Another place to check out is Armidale’s Sport and Rec Centre offers skating, laser tag, ten pin bowling and many other great activities.
Adventure
For the more adventurous children who like a challenge, check out our skate park. Also head out to the Pine Forest where you can take your dog along too. If you are able to go for a 20 minute dirve, Gara Gorge is also a great place to stop and see.
If you like easy walks and spectacular views then head to Gara Gorge lookout, accessed along Threlfall walking track. You’ll be rewarded with scenic views down the rugged gorge.
The surrounding areas of Armidale have the most beautiful waterfalls and gorges. Some great ones to check out are Ebor Falls, Cathedral Rock and Apsley Falls. Check out our article about Waterfall hunting for more info.
Swimming
Armidale’s Aquatic Centre is another fantastic place to check out, especially in summer. The Centre has one 8 lane 50m competition pool, a learn’s pool and also a toddler’s pool. The Centre also has hot showers and toilets.
